Nissan Motor India (NMIPL) today said it had registered a total sales of 1,632 units in June with its newly-launched compact car Micra clocking 1,609 units.
In the same month previous year, the company sold a total of 77 units only, NMIPL said in a statement.
The company had started nationwide sales of the Micra on July 15, 2010, and sold 928 units in the starting month.
The Micra, which was opened for bookings prior to its launch in July last year, has till date registered sales of 16,688 units in the domestic market, the statement said.
"Last month we celebrated the 1,00,000th Micra to be produced at Chennai and the model is continuing to be very popular across all regions. The current slower growth in the market is impacting the overall industry, but Nissan is well-placed for future growth," NMIPL Managing Director & CEO Kiminobu Tokuyama said.
