Micromax owners arrested for bribing NDMC officials

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Wednesday arrested the two owners of mobile handset maker Micromax, while they were allegedly giving a Rs 30-lakh bribe to engineers of the North Delhi Municipal Corporation for clearance to a banquet hall construction.

Along with Rajesh Agrawal and Manish Tuli, owners of Micromax Informatics, CBI sleuths also arrested two junior officials of the municipal corporation and carried out searches at 15 locations, including the residences and offices of the corporation officers. CBI sources said they got a tip that Agrawal and Tuli had entered into a deal with engineers of the civic body in exchange for a bribe of Rs 50 lakh and the two negotiated to bring down the amount Rs 30 lakh. Micromax offcials were not available for comment.
