A seminar on "Medical textiles opportunities and applications" is being organised here tomorrow by the Ministry of Textiles.
An official release today said the market for medical textiles was estimated to be 16.71 million tonnes worth $92.88 billion and it was expected to touch 23.77 million tonnes worth $127 billion by 2010.
Medical textile products, included all kinds of fabrics structures such as bandages, plasters, gauze dressing, bed spreads, sutures and heart valves.
The present estimated size of the Indian health industry was $30 billion and it had been growing at 12 per cent.
The Textile commissioner, Mumbai, is conducting the seminar.
