Modicare, the direct selling company of the K K Modi group, is exploring the possibility of exporting its products and services to Asean and Saarc countries.
Samir Modi, president and managing director, Modicare said that the process of such a roll-out had already been initiated and by next year the company would venture into at least two countries.
Initially, around 20-30 products out of its portfolio of 180 products would be offered. Modicare offers products in the categories of colour cosmetics and skin acre, personal care, laundry care, home care, auto care, education and agriculture, food and food storage and water purification goods.

In the domestic market, the company was looking at a 100 per cent growth this year. Last year Modicare had clocked a turnover of Rs 180-200 crore.
Modicare was launched in 1996 and has grown from the initial 400 distributors to the present level of over 9 lakh consultants, with over 25,000-30,000 consultants being added each month.
The company would be adding 4 lakh distributors by March 2004. Modi said, the company had no plans of reaching out to the consumer through any other business model.
By direct selling, the company had bypassed the warehouse-depot-distributor-retailer route and huge expenses on advertising and promotions.
Modi said the company was also looking at entering new products segments in India. One such example was health and food supplements. To develop the products, Modicare has entered into technical tie-ups both in India and outside the shores of the country.
The company has 60 centres across the country which supply products to over 2,000 cities. Modicare also has plan to add more lifestyle centres in Bangalore and Chennai.
At present, there were four lifestyle centres. A lifestyle centre comprised a super market, lifestyle section, training room, display area, customer care area and back office.
