Mohali hotels fail to cash in on IPL crowd

The Mohali hotel industry has failed to thrive up on the business provided by international cricket matches and the corporate sector has remained their backbone.

Talking to Business Standard, many hoteliers admitted the ongoing T-20 matches had failed to evoke the response the local hotel industry expected.

Only few hotels who are in proximity to the cricket stadium at Mohali benefited from the IPL games. Kanwar Deep Singh, manager of one such hotel, held that they have almost had all their rooms booked during the IPL matches.

 

While the normal occupancy rate during this time of the year is generally 70-75 per cent, they are currently registering 100 per cent occupancy in the hotel.
