Mother Dairy raises milk prices by Rs 2 a litre

Hike to be effective in NCR, Mumbai, Lucknow, Kanpur & Pune

BS Reporter New Delhi
Mother Dairy on Tuesday raised prices of all its variants by Rs 2 a litre.

After the increase, a one litre packet of full cream milk would cost Rs 44 in Delhi against the earlier price of Rs 42, while that of toned milk will cost Rs 34 instead of Rs 32.

Earlier this month, Amul also increased the price of its milk by Rs 2 a litre in the capital. Amul and Mother Dairy provide 80 per cent of the total milk consumed in the national capital region.

“Mother Dairy is compelled to raise its milk prices for all its variants because of rising input cost,” it said on Tuesday.

It said as cattle feed and fodder contributes the bulk (almost 75 per cent) of the total cost of production of milk, a significant rise in their cost as well as labour cost has led to the rise in the overall cost of production.

The company is increasing prices in cities like Mumbai, Delhi NCR, Lucknow, Kanpur, Pune and other places where Mother Dairy milk is sold, the statement added.
