Moti Mahal on tandoori trail

Moti Mahal Tandoori Trail, the chain of restaurants credited with pioneering innovative tandoori dishes in the country, is eyeing business from Gujarat. It has opened its first restaurant at Vadodara, and is looking to open at least 6 more in the state in the coming months.

Operating through the franchisee model, the chain will set up another restaurant in Vadodara, two in Ahmedabad, and one each in Surat and Rajkot. The chain currently has 52 restaurants in the country.

"We are looking at gaining a strong foothold in Gujarat. Though we are just testing waters here, we are expecting up to 10 per cent of our revenues to come from Gujarat," said Monish Gujral, MD of Moti Mahal Tandoori Trail. It expects to set up 75 restaurants in the country by the end of 2008.
