Movenpick gets high on India, local arm soon

 The company last week applied to the foreign investment promotion board (FIPB) seeking approval to set up a wholly owned subsidiary, Movenpick Foods International Ltd, which will be located in Delhi. The principle business of the new company will be to provide consultancy to its importer-distributors in the country and in neighbouring country's for Movenpick products which include its existing portfolio of ice-creams as well as coffee and wine.

 However, sources said that plans are to establish the Movenpick brandname as well as the group's other businesses in India through the new company. The new company may also seek joint ventures, acquisitions and alliances. Currently, the company imports ice-creams through Frozen Natural Imports and Exports, while its distribution logistics are being handled by Kauser India Ltd.
