Multi Screen Media (MSM), which runs TV channels Sony and SET Max, has acquired the exclusive satellite TV rights for Robot’s multiple telecasts for the next 7 years from Gemini Industries & Imaging Pvt Ltd and Sun TV Network Ltd. Produced by Kalanithi Maran, directed by Shankar and with a music score by A R Rahman, Robot is a sci-fi thriller, a story of an acclaimed scientist, enacted by Rajnikant, and his lady love, played by Aishwarya.
Robot broke all opening box office records upon release, in India and worldwide. It was released in over 2000 screens, including 366 screens abroad. It was the highest-grossing film in its opening weekend in India and has the highest opening-day collections for a Hindi film, ever. Robot has gone on to become one of the highest-grossing Hindi movies of all time in India.
