Multi Screen Media (MSM), the broadcasting firm that operates Sony Entertainment and other Sony brand channels, today unveiled the name and logo of its motion pictures division. The production banner, MSM Motion Pictures, will release its first co-production movie ‘Bajate Raho’ with Eros International on 26 July.

While its first venture is a 'revenge comedy', MSM Motion Pictures also has three more films in the pipeline, which include a romantic comedy, and a horror flick.

The company is keen to expand its business and tap the growing movie business in India. It is looking at co-producing films of small to mid-budget of upto Rs 15 crore. Within a couple of years, it also plans to release solo productions.

NP Singh, COO, MSM said, “As a starting point, we shall be focusing on small to medium budget movies. We aim to be involved in the project from the starting to the end and thus our choice of projects is based primarily on the strength of the script. As we go along, if there is a project that calls for a larger investment and we find it justified, we may even move to bigger budget movies.”

The television rights to movies under the MSM Motion Pictures banner will be held jointly by the two parties involved and the films can be acquired by any broadcaster.

Singh added that MSM Motion Pictures will work separately as a division of MSM and will have a separate P&L. As of now, the company has not hired any business head of the division and NP Singh and Man Jit Singh (CEO, MSM) will oversee the operations.
