What is the best thing about the Budget?
I don’t think the budget will affect the luxury market in any big way. However, there is a a disinvestment target of Rs 30,000 crore which will hopefully result in infrastructural development through better facilities for the common man. The focus on rural development and the field of education will also help the country.

What is the worst thing about the Budget?
The rise in service tax from 10 per cent to 12 per cent will affect the consumer adversely, as the cost of living — eating out, shopping or entertainment — will go up.

This will eventually hamper sales.

Will the Budget revive the economy or does it lack boldness?
This is a safe budget, and also a political one since the government is eyeing support from coalition parties. The prime minister should introduce tougher policy reforms.

If you were the Finance Minister, what would you have done?
If India is being hailed as the next superpower, it is necessary to have infrastructure that can compete with international standards. In addition, I would bring down the import duties to make luxury more accessible. I would also try to bring the faith back by striving for more transparency in the allocation of these funds!
