Mysore City Corporation (MCC) has turned tax-payer friendly by going hi-tech in certain areas of its functioning.

It has introduced e-administration in the areas of remittance of tax and obtaining licences and documents, cutting down the abnormal delay in processing these documents and running around pillars for obtaining certificates.

It has set up a citizens' service centre going in for e-administration in its effort to make the civic administration transparent, says MCC commissioner A B Ibrahim.

Accordingly, those who need licence for constructing buildings can submit the building plan and related documents and obtain the building licence within few minutes. This facility is applicable for construction on sites up to the size of 50'x80'.

Similar facility is also provided for securing birth certificates. A person now can pay the required fee and obtain the certificate within a few minutes.

By handing over an application with the water tax receipt and house khatha certificate, a house owner can transfer water connection to any other person's name, without delay.

A businessman or a shopkeeper can have his professional licence renewed by remitting the required amount. The MCC has opened a special bank counter at the service centre for remittance.

All these years, tax payers had to secure the help of officials or corporators for these services, often paying a bribe. The e-facility is expected to cut down the hassle, besides making the civic administration transparent and corruption-free.
