Narendra Kumar takes over as new MD of Indraprastha Gas

Kumar took over the reins of IGL from M Ravindran, who has been repatriated back to GAIL after he was selected Director (HR) of GAIL

Former GAIL India executive director Narendra Kumar has taken over as managing director of Indraprastha Gas Ltd (IGL), the sole supplier of compressed natural gas (CNG) and piped natural gas (PNG) in Delhi, Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad.

Kumar took over the reins of IGL from M Ravindran, who has been repatriated back to GAIL, subsequent to his selection as Director (HR) of GAIL.

Kumar, an Electrical Engineering Graduate, has over 32 years of experience in Fertilizers and Hydrocarbon industry in the areas of operations and maintenance, projects, gas pipeline on tegrity management and corrosion control. Before joining the current assignment, he was serving as executive director (operations and maintenance)and officer- in- charge of central region of GAIL (India) at Vijaipur in Madhya Pradesh.
 

 After joining GAIL in 1990, Kumar has been involved in operations and maintenance of pipeline infrastructure for 23 years at various locations spread across the country. He has had the experience of looking after the works of Hazira – Vijaipur – Jagdishpur pipeline, as well as KG basin pipelines while based in Rajahmundhry apart from construction work of new pipelines.

Before joining GAIL, he had served IFFCO for ten years at Phulpur and Aonla Fertilizer plants.  Kumar has been actively involved in various industry forums in India and overseas. He had been awarded “Corrosion Award” in the year 1998 and “Meritorious Award” in the year 2011, by NACE International for contributing in the field of corrosion science and technology.

IGL is a joint venture of GAIL (India) Ltd and BPCL with government of NCT of Delhi holding a 5 per cent equity stake.
