National Aluminium Company Ltd today clarified through a notification to the BSE that it has no information about any First Information Report (FIR) filed against the company on Utkal-E coal block allocation.

“No FIR (First Information Report) has come to us,” said a company source close to the development.

Media reports early today stated that the Central Bureau of Investigation has filed FIRs against Kumar Mangalam Birla, NALCO, HINDALCO and former secretary coal PC Parakh in the coal scam case.

Allocated in August 2004, NALCO has been looking to get all the clearances in place for the Utkal-E coal block located in Odisha.

The company has already achieved approval of mining plan, wildlife and environment clearances and Coal Ministry's permission for mining lease.

The stage-I forest clearance, however, is still pending, due to issues connected to forest rights on 71 acres of the total 488.53 acres of forest land needed for the project.
