Nalco plans smelter in Indonesia

National Aluminium Company (Nalco) has short-listed Indonesia, Vietnam, West Asia and Tajikisthan for its proposed overseas smelter.

C R Pradhan, chairman and managing director of Nalco, said the chances of the smelter coming up in Indonesia was very bright.

Pradhan said the company will be left with 1.2 million exportable surplus of alumina by the end of 2008.

The company is investing Rs 4,091 crore for capacity addition in smelter, captive power and mining.
