Hyderabad-based Nandan Biomatrix, a producer of herbal products among others, has lined up about 10 products for sexual and lifestyle disorders including erectile dysfunction, frigidity, stress, diabetes and arthritis. These are expected to be released in six to eight months.
Speaking to Business Standard, director (marketing) CS Jadhav, said the company would also provide customised aloe vera extracts to neutraceutical, pharmaceutical and cosmetic companies. It plans to enter the beverage market with two aloe-based health drinks, which are under stability studies and will be out in six months.
The company, meanwhile, is in the process of spinning off its neutraceuticals wing into a profit-centred strategic business operations unit. The wing, which launched Bio-rhythm, a stress reliever and libido booster based on the extracts of safed musli four months ago, is preparing to launch a product for treatment of frigidity, a sexual arousal disorder. This is also based on the extracts of safed musli.
Unlike Bio-rhythm which is sold over the counter, the new product will be available by prescription. “We will depend on the medicos to take this product forward,” he said.
Biorhythm sold over 28,000 units in four months in the domestic market fetching over Rs 1 crore. The company is now looking at markets in Asean and the Gulf Cooperation Council countries. It is also going through the registration processes for targeted marketing efforts in Malaysia, Singapore, Myanmar, UAE and Oman among others.
“We are looking at Rs 10 crore revenues from the aphrodisiac segment in the domestic market in two years,” he said, adding they were expecting Rs 3 crore revenues from Bio-rhythm during the same period.
The parent company is setting up a research and development unit, processing and solvent extraction plants for neutraceuticals and biofuels at its upcoming 14-acre facility at Zaheerabad in Medak district. The unit is likely to be ready in a year.
