Nasscom summit on green IT technologies and new markets

The National Association of Software and Services Companies (Nasscom), trade body  of the Indian IT-BPO industry today kicked off its first ‘CEO Summit 2008’ in  Kolkata.

The event has been structured to address key issues in the industry today and evaluate the measures that will position the Indian IT-BPO sector for its next phase of growth.
 
Speaking about the focus and objective of this event,  Som Mittal, President, NASSCOM said. “ It is critical for the industry to come together and evaluate, address the problems facing the sector and identify new opportunities to ensure sustained growth going forward”.
 
Nasscom is  promoting green IT initiatives  to help the Indian IT-BPO industry collaborate and  become a global leader in addressing environmental issues pro actively, said a Nasscom release.

With focus on green technologies and practices, Nasscom is emphasising on  green buildings, green computing infrastructure and  e-waste management.

Nasscom summit will also focus on the  issue to have  national curriculum for IT, and developing  new markets for Indian IT companies among other.
