NBPPL scouts for global technology partner

NTPC-BHEL Power Projects (NBPPL), a joint venture between state-run BHEL and NTPC, is in talks with six global companies for a possible technological tie-up.

C P Singh“We are looking for a global technology partner and we expect to finalise the deal in next eight months. At present, we are in discussions with at least six global firms,” NBPPL Chairman and Managing Director C P Singh told Business Standard.

He, however, refused to divulge the names of the global companies. The technology would be mainly used for coal and ash handling plants of the projects. Singh said it would be a 5-10 year partnership, based on royalty or initial payment system.

 

The company also expects to have an order book of Rs 7,000 crore by the end of this financial year.

“We are expecting two EPC (engineering, procurement and construction) orders – one from NTPC for Rs 3,000 crore and another from the Andhra Pradesh government for about Rs 3,600 crore. Currently, we have an order book of Rs 400 crore,” he said.

The Andhra Pradesh government order is for a 600-mega watt (Mw) thermal power project at Rayalaseema, while NTPC order is for its 500-Mw thermal power station at Singrauli (Madhya Pradesh).
