NDTV sees good times in lifestyle genre

Based on market share and reach, the pecking order among the handful of lifestyle channels has changed with NDTV Good Times overtaking Discovery Travel & Living (T&L). But experts say that ratings, reach and market share are less significant in the lifestyle genre and channels are sold to the advertisers based on their perception value.

 

The lifestyle and entertainment genre has channels like Discovery Travel & Living, NDTV Good Times, Zee Trendz and Fashion TV, among others, and attracts Rs 55-60 crore of advertising revenue annually. Also, except NDTV Good Times, all other channels are pay-channels, which means they make money on subscription revenue too, apart from advertising revenue.

This genre has become important for broadcasters as it has a very definite viewer profile
