Hero MotoCorp, the country's largest two-wheeler maker, will commence production at its Rajasthan-based green field plant in the final quarter of this year, a senior company executive speaking in a analyst conference call stated.
The Delhi-based company will invest Rs 550 crore in setting up this plant and a new Global Parts Centre (GPC) both in Neemrana, Rajasthan.
The Neemrana plant, spread over 47 acres, will employ 1,000 people, and have an installed capacity of 7,50,000 units per annum.

Ravi Sud, chief financial officer and senior vice president, Hero MotoCorp said, "The total capital expenditure lined up for this financial year was Rs 1,100 crore. This includes the commencement of operations of our new plant at Neemrana in the final quarter of this year."
In addition, the company has also acquired 175 acres in Halol Gujarat to set up its fifth plant. Around 200 acres has been allotted for the Hero plant. Construction of this Gujarat plant is set to begin in the coming months and the new plant is expected to be operational next year.
