Car sales in the domestic market accelerated 28.5% in November while the increase in motorcycle sales was relatively moderate at 15%.

According to figures released by Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), car sales in the domestic market stood at 88,473 units in November as against 68,841 units in the same month last year.

As many as eight of the eleven carmakers, including Maruti Udyog, Hyundai India, Tata Motors, Honda and Ford, saw a healthy jump in sales. Even Fiat India, which is trying hard to revive sales, witnessed a rise in sales numbers.

The exceptions to the upward spiral were Hindustan Motors, SkodaAuto and Toyota Kirloskar, SIAM said.

According to analysts, economic growth, rising pay packets, new model launches and hefty discounts spurred the demand for cars.

Motorcycle sales maintained their steady growth momentum by posting growth of 15% at 5,56,612 units in November as against 4,83,957 in the same month last year.
