In recent months, UP has taken the MoU route for power projects totalling almost 10,000 Mw, while work has already started in three other projects at Bara, Karchhna and Meja totalling 4,600 Mw.
State chief secretary Atul Kumar Gupta said the government was hopeful to ramping up its power generation capacity by 1,700 Mw this fiscal and 2,300 Mw next fiscal.
The state government will acquire the land and provide water linkage for the Ghatampur project, Ansari said. The project to be built with energy efficient super critical technology and is proposed to be complete by 2014.
“While initially, the power plant would be of 2,000 Mw capacity, it would be expanded in future,” Sehgal informed.
The project will generate direct and indirect employment opportunities of 800-1000 and 8,000-10,000 respectively and boost the development of ancillary units in the periphery.
Meanwhile, the first boiler of Anpara C project was lit up and is likely to be synchronized within a month contributing 600 Mw of power to the state.
“Besides, another 600 Mw unit is expected to be synchronized by March 2011,” Sehgal added.
