The government has allowed National Fertilisers Ltd (NFL) to produce and market neem-coated urea over the next two years.
This decision comes after NFL successfully test-marketed the product. Pilot projects were undertaken in several states.
Farmers had responded positively to field demonstrations of the product and various agricultural universities and Krishi Vigyan Kendras too had supported its use, NFL sources said.
