NHPC's Teesta project starts commercial operation

NHPC's current installed generation capacity is 5,300 MW

State-run NHPC today said its 132 MW hydel plant at Teesta in Sikkim would now supply electricity to the National Grid.

Country's largest hydro power producer today informed the stock exchange that 132 MW plant can now sell electricity generated from the station.

"Commercial operation of the generating station of installed capacity of 4x33MW (132MW) as a whole is declared with effect from midnight of May 19, 2013," NHPC informed the BSE.

NHPC's current installed generation capacity is 5,300 MW.

Shares of the company were trading at Rs 19.55, down 2.01% on the BSE.
