Nicholas Piramal FY05 net down 18%

Nicholas Piramal India has posted a 18% decline in consolidated net profit at Rs 164.05 crore for the year ended March 31, 2005 as against Rs 199.66 crore in FY04.

According to a release issued by the company to the BSE today, total income declined to Rs 1,341.65 crore in FY05 from Rs 1,417.22 crore in FY04.

The group posted a consolidated loss of Rs 13.43 crore for the fourth quarter ended March 31, 2005 as against consolidated profit of Rs 80.80 crore in Q4FY04. Total income declined to Rs 249.59 crore in Q4FY05 from Rs 341.53 crore in Q4FY04.

The company, on a stand-alone basis, reported a decline in net profit at Rs 169.57 crore for the year ended March 31, 2005 as against Rs 188.01 crore in FY04. Total income declined to Rs 1,276.07 crore for the year ended March 31, 2005 from Rs 1,293.38 crore in FY04.

The company, on a stand-alone basis, has posted a net loss of Rs 12.48 crore for the fourth quarter ended March 31, 2005 as against a net profit of Rs 75 crore in Q4FY04. Total income stood at Rs 231.67 crore in Q4FY05 as against Rs 327.49 crore in Q4FY04.

The board has recommended a dividend of 150% i.e Rs 3 per share of Rs 2 each.
