Within a month after securing investment from Infosys co-founder Nandan Nilekani, Bengaluru-based mobile technology start-up Mubble said it had raised an undisclosed amount in Series-A funding from Accel Partners. The money will be used to scale up the business, the company stated.

Mubble is an app that smartphone users track to control their telecom spends, especially their mobile data usage. Mubble does this via an advanced self-learning, offline-capable, on-device text analytics engine, which is a first of its kind in the world. By giving users one-click access to their telecom spend and mobile data usage information across SIM cards, Mubble empowers users to take smarter decisions when it comes to using their smartphones, the firm stated.

Mubble was founded in 2013 by Ashwin Ramaswamy (IIT-Madras, IIM-Bangalore), Pranav Jha (IIT-Bombay) and Raghvendra Varma (IIT-BHU). It is focused on Indian market.  “We will use the funds to attract the best tech talent and build a world class product, designed for the masses of India,” said Ashwin Ramaswamy, co-founder and chief executive officer of Mubble. The app is designed to work offline and hence conserves precious mobile data balances of its users.

Mubble is available in multiple Indian languages, with nearly half of its users using Mubble in their own mother-tongue instead of English.

“The app ecosystem in India is evolving rapidly, we think Mubble’s ‘data-guard’ will enable the new-gen smartphone users to navigate this ecosystem predictably,” said Subrata Mitra, Partner, Accel Partners.
