NINL posts record output

Towards its efforts to become the largest producer and exporter of pig iron in the country, all production shops of Nilachal Ispat Nigam Ltd (NINL), a joint venture company promoted by MMTC and the Orissa government, has achieved a record monthly production performance levels during the month of December, 2004, bettering upon the earlier best performance in the previous month.
 
The production of hot metal, pig iron and power registered a growth of 154 per cent, 160 per cent and 214 per cent respectively over what was achieved during December, 2003.
 
In last nine months, all the areas of the plant have crossed the performance levels, which were achieved in the corresponding period during the year 2003-2004.
 
While the growth in NINL's pig iron production is 17.68 per cent, the same in pig iron dispatches is 22.07 per cent.
 
In coke oven and by product plant, the record production of met coke in December helped not only in meeting the internal requirement of met coke for the blast furnace, but also created surplus quantities for dispatch to RINL, MESCO and Kalinga Iron Works.
 
There was record dispatch of 12141 tonne ammonium sulphate during the month and 2645 tonne of crude tar was supplied to various processing units for the production of coal chemicals.
 
Sinter plant for the first time achieved a production level crossing 1 lakh ton in a month.
 
The traffic handling touched a new high at the plant with highest receipt of raw materials and highest dispatch of finished products. A record number of 79 freight trains were handled consisting of 53 incoming trains and 26 out going trains.
 
Plant loaded 46188 tonnes of pig iron for export during the month.
