Nissan appoints new India head

Shohei Kimura has been named vice president, India Project, Nissan Motor Company (NML). According to a company release, Kimura will be the new head of Nissan's business interests and activities in India.

Kimura will eventually assume the role of managing director and chief executive officer at Nissan Motor India (NMIPL).

Colin Dodge, senior vice president and chairman of management committee-global overseas market, said, "As we begin our full operations in India, I am confident that we have a solid team in place. I would like to welcome Shohei Kimura to our team. He has extensive knowledge of Nissan's global operations and international automotive experience. I look forward to his leadership for Nissan in India."

Kimura has worked at Nissan since 1979. Prior to this new assignment, he has held various management positions in the Production Technology Department and the Materials Technology Department both in Japan and the US. Most recently he served as the general manager of the Oppama Plant. Kimura has a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Shizuoka.

The company's operations here will include manufacturing, marketing and sales, after-service, R&D, engineering and global business process support.
