Japanese automaker Nissan, which launched its first made-in-India hatchback Micra in July, on Wednesday unveiled the diesel version of the car in the Andhra Pradesh market.

The diesel variant is priced Rs 5.68 lakh for XV model and Rs 6.15 lakh for the premium version (ex-showroom Hyderabad), and offers a mileage of 23.08 kmpl.

Kiminobu Tokuyama, managing director and CEO, Nissan Motor India, told the media here that the car was designed to make city driving enjoyable, and that the success of its petrol variant had given them the confidence to introduce the diesel model within five months.

Micra is manufactured at the Nissan facility in Oragadam, near Chennai, and accounts for 65 per cent of the company's total market in India. The company, which started exporting Micra in October, would produce 80,000 units of the model this year up to March 2011.
