Nissan ramps up dealership network in AP

Japanese automaker Nissan Motor today launched Fortune Nissan, its third dealership in the state, taking the total number to 32 in the country.

“We will ramp up our dealership network to 100 from the existing 32 by 2013,” Kiminobu Toyuyama, managing director and chief executive of Nissan Motor India, said. The company would add 23 new dealership this fiscal and expects the sales number to increase on the back of it

Fortune Nissan, spread over 35,000 sft, would sell company’s four variants — luxury sedan Teana, sports utility vehicle X-Trail, sports car Nissan 370Z , and Micra, the compact hatchback.

 

Nissan would launch its global sedan shortly in the country and is reviewing options and the market, he added.

It might double the production capacity at its manufacturing facility in Oragadam near Chennai to 400,000 units per annum. Along with French automajor Renault, the company has committed investments of Rs 4,500 crore spread over a period of seven years.

Nissan reported over 20-fold increase in sales of Micra last month. As of March 2011, it sold 13,000 Micra and has set a target of selling 100,000 units in the country by 2013.
