Nitta Gelatin India Limited (NGIL), the second largest Gelatin manufacturer in the country, reported a post tax profit of Rs 1.08 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2014 after reporting net losses for the three preceding quarters.
The company posted an increase of around 9% in total income from operations which stood at Rs 86.21crore, compared to Rs 79.23 crore in the corresponding quarter of 2013-14.
PAT for Q1 is after providing for an exceptional expenditure of Rs 0.90 crore, for a one time study conducted by a central government agency at aunit of the company, which is of strategic importance for the company.

At present, NGIL has four manufacturing locations in the country, two in Kerala and one each in Maharashtra and Gujarat.
In addition to the Ossein Plant at Kathikudam, in Kerala NGIL's second plant in Kerala is at the Kinfra Export Promotion Industrial Park (KEPIP) in Kakkanad, Kochi, which manufactures value-added products like gelatin and collagen peptide.
