The Neyveli Lignite Corporation Ltd (NLC) on Thursday said that the company had crossed all the targets set by it in various areas including the production of lignite, power generation and removal of overburden during the first quarter of the present fiscal.
The company, in an announcement on Thursday, said, the company has produced 6.63 million tonnes of lignite as against the target of 6.56 million tonnes, with a growth of 6.4 per cent over the corresponding period of previous year. The power generation was over 5.37 billion units as against the target of 4.85 billion unit, and the growth was 6.44 per cent compared to the generation in the same quarter of previous year. The overburden removal resulted a growth of 24.46 per cent, by removing 45.11 million cubic metres. In June, 2013, lignite production was 2.23 million tonne compared to the target of 2.21 mllion tonne, resulting in 4.95 per cent growth.
The power generation during the month was 1,726.13 million units (MU) as against 1,605 MU, with a growth of 6.12 per cent over June, 2012. The overburden removal during the month was 15 million cubic metres compared to the target of 13.7 million cubic metres, with a growth of 13.09 per cent over the same month of previous year.
