No Diwali dhamaka this: Traders

 Leading the pack is the stagnant turnover of sweets, the demand for which usually shoots up at this time.

 A quick survey of trends in some of the leading markets in Delhi showed that sales of Diwali favourites, like dry fruits, gold jewellery, and even utensils and toys, were also down 10-15 per cent.

 Sugar and Spice, a premier confectionery chain in the capital, registered a no Diwali-effect at its Janpath outlet, even though business at Vasant Vihar captured the festive season.

 A representative said parking was an associated hassle in the area, and this had deterred the Diwali crowd. The story repeats itself at Sadar Bazaar, one of the premier shopping hubs of Delhi.
