Putting an end to all speculations surrounding Parthi Bhatol’s continuance as chairman of Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), board members did not turn up for the requisition meeting supposed to be held on Saturday at the federation board room.  Board members of GCMMF, which owns and markets Amul brand of milk and milk products in India, were supposed to meet on Saturday to discuss the no-confidence motion moved against Bhatol.

Apparently, except for Rajkot dairy co-operative chairman, rest 12 members of the board were present in the federation campus but chose not to attend the requisition meeting. “Since none of the board members attended the requisition meeting, their move for a no-confidence motion stands cancelled,” said Bhatol.

According sources privy to the development, political intervention is cited to be one of the reasons for members absence from the meeting.

However, talking about the move on conditions of anonymity, one of the board members said, “It was a mutual decision among the members present at the federation campus to remain absent from the requisition meeting. The decision was taken keeping in mind the welfare of the federation and its stakeholders.”

After three failed efforts to dethrone Bhatol, as many as 10 board members had moved a no-confidence motion against the chairman last week and a requisite meeting was convened on August 21 to discuss the no-trust motion.
