Nomarks comes under FDA scanner

Ozone Ayurvedics today submitted the documents supporting its flagship brand Nomarks to the Maharashtra Food & Drug Administration (FDA). The regulator had sought documentation on Nomarks scrub soap relating to its curative claims.

Ozone Ayurvedics today said in a media statement that in response to the Maharashtra FDA seeking clarifications on its brand, it had submitted all the relevant documents.

According to the company, Nomarks is a proven ayurvedic soap with medicinal properties and it possess all documentary evidence relating to its medicinal properties. Nomarks is manufactured at its unit at Guwahati, Assam. Under the Nomarks brand it sells a range of products""soap, face pack, scrub and face wash gel.

The entire action is part of the ongoing study of the general cosmetics industry that is found to be routinely making tall claims regarding their products that amounts to false representation to consumers.

Recently, the FDA served a notice to MNC major Reckitt Benckiser for its Harpic toilet cleaner brand not possessing a drug licence.

Accoding to FDA, Harpic disinfectant brand contains certain chemicals bringing it under the definition of drugs. Some of the fast moving consumer goods companies that came under the lens of FDA was Johnson & Johnson, Emami and Wipro Consumer Care.
