NPCIL, Nalco ink MoU to set up N-power plants in India

Nuclear Power Corporation of India (NPCIL) and National Aluminium Company (Nalco) today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for setting up nuclear plants in the country.

The MoU was signed by NPCIL Chairman and Managing Director S K Jain and Nalco Chairman and Managing Director A K Srivastava, a press release issued here stated.

As per the MoU, Nalco intends to invest here as part of its strategy to diversify into commercial generation of electricity through nuclear power plants jointly with NPCIL, the release said.

NPCIL is a central public sector undertaking (PSU) under the administrative control of the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) and is involved in the design, construction, operation and maintenance of nuclear power plants for the generation of electricity in accordance with the provisions of the Atomic Energy Act.

 

Nalco is a central PSU under the administrative control of the Ministry of Mines, which has more than 25-years of experience in mining, alumina refining, power generation and aluminium smelting.
