NPCIL to raise Rs 23,000 cr

Land acquisition for Nuclear Power Corporation of Indian (NPCIL)’s nuclear park at Jaitapur in Maharashtra will begin tomorrow. The project requires 938 hectares of land. The project will generate 10,000 megawatt (MW) of electricity, said S K Jain, CMD, NPCIL.

The first stage of the project will cost around Rs 33,000-35,000 crore, said J K Ghai, director (finance), NPCIL. Of the debt component of nearly Rs 23,000 crore, about Rs 10,000-15,000 crore would be made available through ECA, France. Ghai said talks were on with a consortium of banks including BNP Paribas, Societe Generale and HSBC for the credit.
