State-owned National Textile Corporation (NTC) today said its three new mills in Karnataka, Maharashtra and Gujarat will start operations in the next three to six months.
"The project cost of the three new mills is about Rs 650 crore ... It will be commissioned in the next three to six months," NTC Chairman and Managing Director of K Ramachandran Pillai told reporters here.
The three projects are at Achalpur in Maharastra, Hassan in Karnataka and Ahmedabad in Gujarat.
The combined production capacity of the three units would be about 1.32 lakh spindles, Pillai said at the National Convention of Textile Engineers organised by Institution of Engineers.
With the new mills NTC would not only be spinning, but would be entering weaving, processing and garmenting segments of the textile industry also, he added.
NTC is also in the process of setting up a new mill in Rajasthan for geo-textiles, a special variant used in construction and road making.
The total turnover of the company is expected to touch Rs 2,014 crore by 2014, Pillai said.
"Last year, our turnover was Rs 480 crore and this year it will be around Rs 550 crore. We have drawn an ambitious plan to achieve a turnover of Rs 2,014 crore by 2014."
NTC has a total of 24 mills including the four new mills.
