NTPC, ADB plan renewable power projects

National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) has signed a memorandum of understanding with Asian Development Bank (ADB) to establish a joint venture power generating company.

According to a release issued by NTPC to the BSE today, the new company will establish and hold a portfolio of about 500MW of renewable power generation over the next three years.

"The joint venture company will primarily concentrate on wind power, mini and micro hydro-electric power projects, but the portfolio may also include other renewable power generation resources like industrial co-generation, waste-to-energy, solar, geo-thermal, bio-mass and bio-fuel projects," the release added.
