NTPC commissions another 500 Mw unit at Kahalgaon

NTPC Limited, the largest power generation company of the country, successfully commissioned 500 megawatt Unit number 7 at Kahalgaon Super Thermal Power Station. The Kahalgaon Super Thermal Power Project will have seven units in total now.

Four units of 210 Mw each had been commissioned in Stage I and three more units of 500 mw each had been commissioned in Stage II. With the commissioning of this unit the commissioned capacity of Kahalgaon Super Thermal Power Project will become 2340 Mw generation capacity.

The total installed capacity of NTPC would go up to 30644 Mw. NTPC Kahalgaon super thermal power station mainly supplies power to the states of Eastern, North Eastern, Northern and Western Regions. Coal for the power station is obtained from Eastern Coalfields Ltd.
