NTPC commissions unit ahead of schedule

National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) has synchronised Unit IV (500 MW) of Talcher project - Stage II on February 06, 2005.

According to a release issued to the BSE today, the unit has been commissioned 12 months ahead of schedule. "The unit was scheduled for commissioning in February 2006," the release said.

With the commissioning of this unit, stage-II of the 4X500 MW Talcher project has been completed, and the installed capacity of the Talcher project is now 3000 MW, the release added.
