NTPC net dips 16%
State-run NTPC today posted a 16 per cent drop in net profit at Rs 1,841.9 crore for the June quarter, compared to Rs 2,193.6 crore in the same quarter last year.
The fuel cost rose over 12.3 per cent to Rs 8,702.3 crore, while the overall expenditure increased 12.7 percent to Rs 10,640.4 crore.
Net sales were up 7.85 per cent at Rs 12,944.5 crore, against Rs 12,002.7 crore in the year-ago quarter, the company said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange.
NTPC plans to add 4,150 mega watt (Mw) capacities, from eight units to be set up at six plants, this financial year.
GSK net profit up 3.7%

Glaxosmithkline Pharmaceuticals (GSK) has posted net profit of Rs 129 crore for the quarter ended June 30, which is 3.7 per cent higher against the Rs 124.35 crore for the corresponding quarter last year.
Net sales was Rs 497.9 crore for the quarter, 8.8 per cent higher as against Rs 457.4 crore for the previous year’s corresponding quarter.
“Sales of vaccines were significantly impacted on account of constraints on supply. The availability of vaccines, however, has been improving towards the end of the quarter,” said MD Hasit B Joshipura.
