NTPC inks PPAs for upcoming wind power plant in K'taka

State-run National Thermal Power Company (NTPC) has inked power purchase agreements (PPA) with five distribution companies in Karnataka for supply of 100 Mw power from its upcoming wind energy plant.

The Gulegudda wind power project is coming up at Bagalkot district in Karnataka.

In a statement today, NTPC said Karnataka would be the only beneficiary of the wind power to be generated from the plant.

The PPA was signed between the state-run major and five discoms on June 29 in Bangalore.

NTPC, the country's largest power producer, is mainly into thermal power generation. It has an installed capacity of 34,854 Mw.

 

Recently, NTPC had started operations of the first super critical 660 Mw unit at Sipat plant in Chhattisgarh.
