State-run power producer NTPC Ltd has posted an increase of 38 per cent in profit after tax of about Rs 2,782 crore for the fourth quarter ended March this year. It had recorded a profit after tax of Rs 2017.6 crore in the same quarter last year.
The total income for the quarter grew 24.8 per cent to Rs 16,185 crore from Rs 12,967.4 crore in the same quarter the previous year, NTPC said in a statement. For 2010-11, the profit after tax stood at Rs 9,102.6 crore as compared to Rs 8,728.2 crore for the previous financial year, at a growth rate of 4.3 per cent.
The total income for the year increased 20.4 per cent and stood at Rs 59,247.8 crore for 2010-11, against Rs 49,230.1 crore in the earlier year. In 2010-11, NTPC’s energy billing crossed the Rs 50,000-crore mark for the first time.
It has an installed capacity of 34,194 Mw. The Board of Directors has recommended a final dividend of Rs 0.80 per equity share for the year 2010-11. This is in addition to the interim dividend of Rs 3.00 per equity share paid in February.
