NTPC plans Rs 3,425cr hydro power foray

National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) today said it plans to invest Rs 3,425 crore for its hydro power foray. 

According to an official release issued by the company to the BSE today, the board of the power generation PSU has, at its meeting held on November 16, 2006, given the investment approval for the Tapovan Vishnugad Hydro Electric Power Project.

 
The 540MW project is being developed as a merchant power plant, the release added.
