NTPC Q4 net rises 37.8% to Rs 2,782 cr

India's top power utility NTPC posted a standalone net profit or Rs 2,782 crore for the quarter ending March 31, 2011, which is a 37.8% jump from Rs 2,018 crore posted a year ago for the same period.

Total income has increased 24.8% from Rs 12,967.4 crore for the quarter ending March 31, 2010 to Rs 16,185 crore for the quarter ending March 31, 2011.

The company has posted a net profit of Rs 9,102.5 crore for the year ended March 31, 2011 as compared to Rs 8,728.2 crore for the year ended March 31, 2010, an increase of 4.2%.

Total income sprang 20.3% from Rs 49,230 crore for the year ended March 31, 2010 to Rs 59,247.8 crore for the year ended March 31, 2011.  20.3%

The company, which accounts for a quarter of India's generation capacity, had earlier said it plans to add 4,320 megawatts of capacity in the financial year ending March 2012.
