Ratan Tata, Tata Sons directors summoned in Nusli Wadia's defamation suit

Respondents to stand trial for criminal defamation under Indian Penal Code, face simple jail term of up to 2 years, with fine.

A local court has issued summons to Tata Trusts Chairman Ratan Tata and Tata Sons Chairman N Chandrasekaran, along with others, in a defamation suit filed by Wadia Group Chairman Nusli Wadia.

The notices were issued by the 38th Magistrate Court at Ballard Pier, Mumbai, last Saturday. The court has posted the matter for hearing on March 25, 2019.

The directors of Tata Sons who have been summoned are Ajay Piramal, Amit Chandra, Ishaat Hussain, Nitin Nohria, Ranendra Sen, Vijay Singh, Venu Srinivasan, Ralf Speth, and F N Subedar.
