Oakley eyes to double biz in India in next 3 yrs

The brand currently markets 300 eyewear models from 1,000 outlets, across 75 cities in India

Eyewear brand Oakley plans to double its business in the next three years on the back of new product launches and also by expanding its reach in the country, a top company official said today.

"We are looking to double the Oakley business in next three years by introducing great products and by increasing our distribution to 1,200 stores across the country," Oakley National Business Head Amitabh Sehdev told PTI.

He, however, did not share financial details.

The brand, which is a part of Milan-based Luxottica Group, currently markets 300 eyewear models from 1,000 outlets, across 75 cities in India.
 

When asked as how Oakley plans to achieve its business targets in the country, Sehdev said that the the brand would be introducing products at "right price and  by increasing distribution".

The eyewear brand is also organising a road show across eight cities as parts of increasing awareness about the significance and relevance of the brand.

"During the course of nearly two months, the roadshow will cut across the country-travelling through Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Pune, Jaipur and Chennai," Sehdev said.

Luxottica Group has nearly 7,000 optical and sun retail stores in North America, Asia-Pacific, China, South Africa, Latin America and Europe. In 2012, it posted net sales of more than 7 billion Euros.
