Australian technology and business consulting services company Oakton today inaugurated its new facility here with a total capacity to house 400 people.
“Just four years after opening our first office in India at Hyderabad, this new building has been built to accommodate the growth of our India-based offshore business. The expansion is part of an investment of approximately Rs 25 crore over the next nine years,” Neil Wilson, chief executive officer of Oakton, told mediapersons.
The Australian Stock Exchange-listed consulting and technology company, which employs 1,150 professionals globally, currently has 160 staff in Hyderabad, and expects the numbers here to reach 200 by the end of the 2011 calendar year and touch 400 in the next three years.
The new facility features open-plan seating, fewer offices, and multiple meeting and breakout areas.
The company, had in March this year, announced that it would be expanding its operations in Hyderabad, from 22,000 sft to 44,000 sft, and that it had been delivering 25 per cent of its business from here.
At present, Oakton caters to 30 clients (a majority of them based out of Australia) including Leighton Contractors, GE Money, Virgin Mobile, Superpartners and Infigen across verticals like banking and financial services and retail using key technology solutions from Microsoft, Oracle and IBM.
“Australia is the only country which did not suffer due to the global financial crisis in 2009. At this time, we are supporting only Australian companies as the economy is continuing to grow. Our long-term plan (after 2-3 years from now) is to look at other markets as well,” Dennis Papakyriakopoulos, vice-president (India operations), said, adding that the company registered Aus $200 million (Rs 952 crore) revenues during the last financial year and expected a 10 per cent increase this fiscal.
