The micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the state have demanded mandatory procurement of 100 per cent finished products from them by the central public sector undertakings (CPSUs).
“The mother plants like Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP), National Aluminium Company (Nalco), Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL), Indian Rare Earth Ltd (IREL), NTPC Ltd should be mandated to procure 100 per cent from the state based MSME units against the mandated requirement of 20 per cent,” said Gauri Shankar Dash, secretary general, Odisha Assembly of Small and Medium Enterprises.
He was speaking at the 28th annual state level convention and seminar of the association organised here in association with Odisha Khadi & Village Industries Board and Institute of Entrepreneurship Development, Odisha.
Dash urged the state industries minister Debi Prasad Mishra to request the mother plants to procure as many products from the state based units.
Recently, the state government has asked central organisations and PSUs including East Coast Railways (ECoR), Nalco, SAIL, NTPC, Neelachal Ispat Nigam Limited (NINL), HAL, MCL and Indian Rare Earths Ltd to abide by the mandatory 20 per cent procurement norm with at least 10 per cent procurement from local enterprises. The state government has pointed out that RSP and Nalco (Angul) have achieved the minimum of 20 per cent purchase from the MSMEs before the target date and 10 per cent from the local units.
